Who am I?

I have written for a number of publications, including New York Magazine, Slate, CNN, and The Washington Post.

Currently, I teach writing at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a Rhode Island high school.

In my previous life, I taught in and wrote for modern and contemporary art museums for nearly 20 years, primarily the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum. I also taught a course on informal learning or museum education at Brown University.

I have a BA from Brown and an MFA in Writing from New York University. I have studied with E.L. Doctorow, Darin Strauss, Rick Moody, and Gary Shteyngart, among others.

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and currently live in Providence, RI with my husband, two daughters, and highly neurotic dog.
